Sunflower seeds come from a beautiful flower and pack a big “nutritional punch.”
These tiny seeds are a versatile ingredient to snack on or add to meals. According to an article at foodandnutrition.org, North American Indians have been eating sunflower seeds as far back as 3,000 B.C. They come in a shell that can easily be cracked open, but many stores, including Core Goods, sell them hulled (without the shell), to make them easier to eat.
Sunflower seeds are a good source of protein, fiber, zinc, folate, vitamin B6, vitamin E, and phosphorus, and also rich in healthful unsaturated fatty acids (learn more).
