Meet the Farmer: Plot Twist Farm

We work with so many amazing farmers and other businesses, and we’re excited to start featuring them on our website! First up–Plot Twist Farm, out of Guys Mills, PA.

Plot Twist Farm was started by Jason and Stella Ruggiero, in 2015, and it’s in Crawford County, midway between Meadville and Titusville. Jason is the director of the Venango County Planning Commission, and works out of the courthouse in Franklin. Stella spent 14 years as a journalist, and now works on the farm and takes care of the couple’s young son, Silas.

Plot Twist Farm sells a variety of produce. Although they are not currently certified organic, they have never used pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers on their fields.

“We believe that healthy soil and healthy plants lead to better outcomes than relying on herbicides and pesticides,” Jason said.

They are currently members of the PA Preferred Network and the National Young Farmers Coalition.

Most recently, we’ve had kale, lettuce, and herbs from them at Core Goods. During the summer, they’ll have tomatoes, peppers, beans, squash, cucumbers, and more.

They primarily sell their produce at local markets (including Core Goods, Edinboro Market, and the Meadville Market House) and they have their own CSA program with a drop off at our store.

Around the time that we opened, the Ruggieros had a 95-foot by 30-foot high tunnel greenhouse assembled and allowing them to house hundreds of plants and grow throughout the seasons.

Plot Twist Farm is a true local family farm and we have loved working with them at Core Goods! We encourage you to check them out at www.plottwistfarm.com or on Facebook.
